What Is Artificial General Intelligence?
Artificial General Intelligence, simplified.

The term artificial intelligence (AI) is often used to describe computer systems that are capable of performing tasks that would normally require human intelligence. While the history of AI can be traced back as far as ancient Greece, in recent years the field has experienced a renaissance and continues to grow at an exponential rate. Many people believe that AI will soon surpass human capabilities, which raises questions about what exactly constitutes "artificial general intelligence" (AGI), or computers that are capable of performing any intellectual task that a human being can do.
What is Weak Artificial Intelligence?

Weak(or basic) Artificial Intelligence refers to computer systems that are designed to perform specific tasks or solve particular problems using pre-defined rules and algorithms. Weak AI systems are generally more effective and efficient at performing their designated tasks than humans, but they lack the flexibility and adaptability that comes with human intelligence.
We can give examples as virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa, self-driving cars, recommendation systems used by Amazon and Netflix, spam filters, voice recognition systems used in call centers, chatbots in customer service, image recognition systems used in security cameras and etc. These systems operate within a well-defined set of parameters and can only make decisions based on the rules programmed into them.
What is Artificial General Intelligence?

AGI is the AI that can perform any intellectual task that a human can. AGI is also known as Strong AI, and it's a general term for AI that has human-level intelligence. A machine with AGI will have the same kind of mental capabilities as we do--it can think, reason and learn like us; this means that it's able to make decisions based on its experience, rather than just following pre-programmed instructions or rules. We can give examples as OpenAI's GPT-3 for generating human-like text and Google's AlphaGo for playing the game Go at a superhuman level and more.
Difference between AI & AGI.

Weak AI, also known as Artificial Intelligence (AI), is a set of algorithms and techniques designed to enable machines to perform specific tasks that would otherwise require human intelligence. Weak AI systems are designed to operate within predefined parameters and are not capable of learning or adapting to new situations.
On the other hand, Strong AI, also known as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), is an artificial system that can learn, reason, and make decisions like humans do. AGI is not limited to performing specific tasks but can operate in complex and dynamic environments.
AGI can accomplish tasks as:
Understanding language and context as humans do
Learning from experience, including interactions with other individuals or entities
Planning and goal-setting in real-world environments
Predicting future outcomes based on past experience
Solving problems using logical reasoning and knowledge gained from previous similar problems.
In summary, while Weak AI is designed for narrow tasks, Strong AI has the potential to achieve a level of intelligence and flexibility that rivals human intelligence.
What should we expect about in the future with AGI?

The future of artificial general intelligence (AGI) is filled with excitement and anticipation. We can anticipate significant progress and development in AGI systems in the coming years, but we should also expect to face various challenges in the process.
While it is impossible to predict precisely what will happen when we achieve human-level AI or beyond, there are several possibilities and routes that our technology may take, contingent upon the quality of design and the ethical use of these systems.
Looking at the positives, we should expect AGI to exceed our imagination, allowing machines to accomplish tasks like autonomous driving and piloting. Furthermore, AGI may generate new job opportunities, including AI-assisted diagnostics in healthcare.
Overall, we can expect AGI to provide us with intelligent machines capable of performing numerous tasks. This will allow humans to have more time to focus on creative activities such as art or entertainment. To achieve this, we need to develop an AI system that can understand language and process data without any inherent biases.
